a colt 1911 .45 cal

wifey (and i) use it for target practice only. no need to carry in da U.P.

she s a sarge at a local prison and has to handgun qualify a couple times a year with a glock. the price of those being what they are(around double of what we paid for the colt) we bought the colt.

i did see something very cool at a friends house. he had a pic in a frame on his bedroom wall and it did look rather odd,but i paid it no mind, till greg swung it open (the pic was on a hinge and the "frame" stayed on the wall") and there hung a 1911 colt with a loaded clip underneath.

one thing i ve noticed about the colt. i m not a gun savvy person by ANY means, but after you slap a clip into the .45,it takes considerable strength to chamber a round,a definete safety factor in its own way.....i dont even think my 10 year old grandson could chamber a shell in it.

btw,we keep all three of our firearms under lock and key, with ammo locked up seperate.

GZ, It looks like the Virginia gun laws are pretty restrictive. Vermont for instance allows anyone of age to carry concealed or unconcelled anywhere except for Government Institutions without any permit or license required

Pennsylvania has reasonable CCW (Concealed Carry Weapon) laws that allow permitted citizens to carry concealed anywhere except for Federal buildings and Philadelphia. VA appears to be similar to PA and a majority of the States in that they have a "shall issue" CCW policy. That means that you don't have to have a reason for wanting a handgun carry permit, the State has the obligation to prove that you don't deserve one. This is usually just a matter of verifying that the information on your application is accurate and a criminal backround check... usually quite painless for all law abiding citizens

Here are the latest firearm laws for Virginia at the NRA website. (make sure you verify all information contained at that site as it's subject to change) http://www.nraila.org/GunLaws.asp?FormMode=Detail&R=VA

Much harder....I have basically quit hunting with my rifes except for the larger species such as bear/elk/moose. I'm currently trying to get my Elk with handgun but havent had the appropriate shot yet. (with handgunning for big game the distances are more like that of Archery hunting thus it's very sporting as your stalking skills much be much more sharp)

Mntsnow, couldn't see any in your gallery. Only the awesome blue monster of a tower. You sure they're still there?
