GPS child locator (ALWAYS know where your child is)

http://www.wherifywireless.com/prod_watches.htm

Has a lock-on system and a built in 911 button for your childs use in an emergency and a built in pager--- DINNER!---or---CALL HOME NOW! etc, locate your child via the phone or internet app---may be a good product for your childrens safety---
ITS also a watch!

sometimes kids shouldnt' have that much freedom.
There are good reasons for things like this.

Freedom applies more to mature adults that can handle that kind of freedom. I'm not stabbing at all kids, as some are more mature than others but there ARE a majority of kids out there that have no idea how to handle 'freedom' maturely.

Hey you can also send a message of "I love you" its a simple easy way of adding an element of safety and security---you can "unlock" it remotely allowing your child to remove it after they get to the birthday party etc and signal them to re-attach it for the trip home via the pager, the use of a device such as this may depend on the age of the child...

As far as FREEDOM for children?
It aint the same now as it was when I was a child in the '60's, the world of kids safety has changed dramatically since then and it cant be treated lightly...

(I have no children---but I was once a kid and I was ALL over the place and my peeps were none the wiser)

Edit---> I need to add---if I had a young child 5-12 years or so old, knowing myself and how I was as a kid---this may be a good item---I think its gonna be a BIG seller...

Freedom is not a child wandering where ever they wish.

The childs parents are responsable and accountable for the childs actions and behavior.

I happen to endorse this sort of item. The parents aren't going to use it to track little Timmys every move. But if there is some emergency the ability to contact and locate thier child is priceless.

Also I didn'tknow that the device included paging, which makes this even more usefull. Not only could the kids parents contact the child, but the kids friends could contact each other...

But you guys look at it diffrently as I do, because I'm a kid(14, thank you very much.) and I live it. You all talk about it. You do not live it. I'm sorry if this sounds mean, but it's true.

"You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view-until you climb into his skin and walk around in it."
-Atticus-- from my personal fav book, To Kill A Mockingbird...

I think it semi-explains how kids are treated these days. People act like we've never herd a swear word(just an example) in our life, so they cencer things, and make movies come with Ratings.

This is a seruis topic for me. I think kids these days are not(and they arn't, I've got facts if you need them) treated even remotly right with their rights these days...

Lol Blood, you act as if none of us have ever been your age. Fact is, we have ALL been your age, so we ALL have seen things from your "point-of-view".

Personally, I am not much older then you are, nineteen. I remember those days extremely well..in all of it's immaturity (not trying to imply that I am extremely mature). It is my opinion (not trying to single you out in any way) that the 12-15 year old male age group is by far the most annoying and immature bracket in life.

Parents should have every right to know where their kid/s are. I know kid's hate it, heck, I despised having to tell my parents everywhere I was going, but it is not only their right, but also their responsibility.

As to right's. You have the right to be safe, learn, and have fun. However, you are not an adult no matter how much you think you are.

Blood_luster,

We, everyone of us that is an adult has been a kid. Parents do not ask you to report in because we do not like you. The reason we do is because we love you, want you safe, want you whole.

We want to save you from many of the mistakes we made as well. Having been a kid as every parent has we think of what we might have been doing when we were that age. Many of us even falsely put our own problems of youth on you. So sometimes we are wrong about your feelings. but as unbelievable as it may seem we are very often right. We know what is in your mind because we raised you to be like us for better or worse.

Children do not have a full measure of freedom because they do not have a full measure of responsibility. If you go out and kill someone the fault lies with the parents as it should. If you break into someones car the same applies. If you go start to drink the fault belongs with the parents. Since the responsibility for your actions is not soley your own parents must know what is going on with you.

Resticting what you watch on TV or in the movies is another thing. Some people are influenced by what they see on movies. As a matter of fact almost every child that sees a movie is impacted by what they see. Parents try to limit the bad movies because they do not want the wrong influences ruling your life.

Sort of like if you go to a movie and they curse the whole time you will see kids come out cursing emulating their favorite character. Cursing is a habit the more you do it the more acceptable you find it. But it is not acceptable in life in most venues.

If you get one thing out of what I am saying I hope you understand the reason we the parents (Ogres) do what we do is to try and make your life better. Your life as a kid lasts but a few short years. Habits and mistakes you make as a kid can follow you for the rest of your life. We want your life to be better than ours was. We want improvement in you as a human being over what we did. So we will work very hard to keep you from making the same mistakes we made.

Oh yea back to the thread topic.

I think this is a great safety device for children.

It is functional for both the parent and kid.

I always had a problem with getting home on time as a kid.

I would go off into the woods for hours and forget all about dinner.

One time I got lost and we had to wait for ever to be rescued. Screaming does little good at 1 mile.

Thats a very interesting device. It may be worth the investment.

It may be good to have one for when you take the kids to the mall or some other place where kids tend get lost.
