Any fellow TIMoers wanna quit smoking?
Well, if you do, go here
I've never been a smoker myself, so I can't really say I understand what you may go through - but Knothead is gonna quit, and it would be great to get a group of members to support him and join in the quit session.
So how about it - post in The Knothead Thread if you are game.
Remember you've got nothing to lose but poor health, and everthing to gain!
Cheers
Mick

CE and Angelcat already volunteered lol
I think it would be a great thing
I think it could be a good thing for people to have a support group (not to mention there's timo!) to help out. Sometimes it helps (as odd as it sounds) to have somebody be let down if you start smoking again

Trust me, I was very dissapointed when I started to smoke again, after only 5 days after I had quit the last time!

Gee thanks, Mick.
* reminds rusty, that he now has, less than a month to give up, before he is 40 *
Actually there's an excuse!: Cant give up before I'm 40. How else will I smoke that 'big cigar' to celebrate mid life! WooHoo! R.

I quit butts 10 years ago, smoked for 23 years before that (I'm 44, do the math), was 2 packs a day at the end. I'm not looking for moral support here. My $0.30: Get on the Nicotine patch program, follow the instructions rigorously - especially the part about skipping routine smoking settings (force yourself to skip them despite how badly you'll miss the rest of the routine), and then simply refuse to smoke, the patch and program will do the rest.
We all know it takes months to start smoking, to get addicted to nicotine, to learn the habits, etc. IMO, reasonable expectations would say the undoing of smoking would take as much effort.
The patch helps divide the nicotine addiction from the emotional/social ritual, allows knocking off the ritual first; then, when you are emotionally/socially committed to the new non smoking routine, the patch program will kick in and drop you to lower chemical levels..... divide and conquer!
I now return you to your regularly scheduled thread.....

regularly scheduled thread...
| LOL, since when are we "regularly scheduled"?
roflmao!
The best way to quit is cold turkey. Patches would probally help. You just need to stick to it.

Yes indeed.
The only way.

Well, yes.
I've been smoking for a few years, not as long as some of you though (I'm 16yo) but you just have to sit it out. What else can you do?
