Outdoors Bali bombings

Hmmm. This got a brief mention in the Bathurst thread, but nothing else. 180 deaths. Once again we're closing our eyes to suffering anyplace but here. Nothing ever changes.

Hardly closing my eyes.

The first thought that went thru my head when I saw this (Bomb in Bar) headline I thought of the downtown HERE.

When I read that it was Bali, my thoughts were "Huh?" Bali isn't involved in any of the recent terror war activity, is it?

Have been wondering just how this is going to effect the push for war... Will Bush use this for a call to war? Or will Bush use this as a call for more investigation (of every agency not already totally in his pocket).

And a prayer was on my lips within seconds of seeing the headline. But that is about all that I can do for any of this. Don't know about you, but I feel powerless...

M_Six, you couldn't be more correct...

Nearly 200 people died...if that happened here, the American public would want to be kicking even more arse...

WTF was the poitn of the bombings? I don't get it? I mean, that country is primarily Muslim...they are killing their own people now??!! I WISH mid-east Al Quada (sp?) supporters would wake up and smell the fsking donkey sh*t...killing fellow Muslims...

I noticed it and since we are having so many problems at home, I can see why it was not given more play.

I will say that security is tightening sinc ethere were 3-4 al Qaeda attacks int he past 3-4 days. This being one of them. We may not be giving it the same airtime that we would if Americans were killed, but we are aware that it happened.

CERuppel,
Prayer is not powerless...

There were also a lot of muslims that died in the WTC. I believe they consider it dying in war so its honorable for them to die in such a fashion. I think its just pathetic

I'm not surprised. Do you realize how much coverage there would have been if it happened in the US? It would be incredible. Not to mention the coverage around the world.
Seems strange aswell, several Americans were killed in the blast.

Most of those killed were my own countrymen. If I felt hatred for Islamic Fundamentalism after the raping of Afghanistan, the WTC slaughter and the incitement to nuclear war in the Indias, I feel it even more intensely now. With each atrocity another nation swears to annihilate them all. They are an evolutionary throwback and a dark stain of shame on all Muslims. Islam will not be forgiven until it turns and rids the world of them.

That is not true.

It was in the tourist centre of Bali...called Kuta... Kuta stands for something in Indonesian which translated means "Place for Australian tourists".

It was mostly Australians who died.
