Sorry to hear about your illness. Although you will feel better real soon with the antibiotics, I've heard that it is a good idea to eat yogurt everytime you are on those pills to help replenish the good flora in your system.
Also, Vass is right and has good suggestions, that salt/h2o can help. Here's a tidbit from another site:
What can make my sore throat feel better?
Here are some things that might help you feel better:
Taking ibuprofen (brand names: Advil, Motrin, Nuprin) or acetaminophen (brand name: Tylenol). Children should not take aspirin. Aspirin can cause Reyes syndrome -a serious illness- and in some cases, death when it is used in children under 18 who have the flu.
Gargling with warm salt water (1/4 teaspoon of salt in 1 cup [8 ounces] of warm water).
For adults and older children, sucking on throat lozenges, hard candy or pieces of ice.
Eating soft foods, drinking cool drinks or warm liquids or sucking on Popsicles.
Here's a good site, although more tech than ya probably want..

Also, PLEASE finish all of the antibiotic even when you are feeling better. Strep can lead to more serious stuff...
The only other things I can think of right now are possibly Vicks or a humidifer to add moisture to the air, or a long hot shower, or putting a real big pot of boiling water on the stove and keep filling it. The humidity may help ease some symptoms. Stay away from citrus and milk for a bit cuz it promotes more mucus. A cooling solution may be something like sherbet. Or a good tea.
Sure hope you feel better real quick!!!
