Free Installation

I finally broke down and ordered satalitte, comes with free installation the ad says.
First months payment, an d they freeze 99 bucks until the install is complete
Anyway, wait 4 days for the guy to show up, and install it. It's 5:30 Saturday when he finally does show, and he looks at the house, the big trees in th front yard, and says "Can't get a line of sight through the trees
We walk all around the house, and he says Can't get a line of sight.
The trees are all on the west side of the house, and this guy keeps walking to the east side of the house to install it,this puts it right in the trees. At this point I'm asking why.
He didn't have the tool the guy used to hook moms up, to find 220 degrees ssw. Just a cell phone he keeps pointing and saying NOPE!
He tels me I will have to dig a hole, and place a 4x4 treated post in 2' deep, in concrete, and marks the spot in front of the house, also trim some tree limbs, an d dig a trench from the street to the EAST side of the house, and they will install it, and I can cover it back in.
I'm sorry, but after 5 hours of picks shovels and post hole diggers, chainsaws, and ladders, the free installation has lost all of it's appeal...lol
I think if it hadn't been 5:30 on saturday, I would be watching 150 channels right now. we've had a dish mounted on the east side of the house before without problem, this guy had a 6pack, and ESPN is my guess.I'll find out tomorrow if he can put it on the east side of the house.
If not, I have a nice post in the front yard to put it on
<rant off>

What about cable?

They've been spouting out those deals that sat. is as cheap or cheaper than cable recently...briefly was interested but decided the mountains of ice would probably knock the thing off the roof and I'm perfectly happy with the plentiful amount of channels we have now (70)...150-300 would be nuts

the local cable has terrible reception.
I've had the people in several times to fix it, and they all tell me it's my TV.
OK, so last Xmas I buy a new one, same thing, so they just never got it fixed
It's great if you like lines through the movie. Th is is 3 years of this.and instead of fixing it, the y say it's the TV VCR, or something, So I did this other thing

digital will be nice, I guess??I just want CLEAR pictures

Oh it was 150 channels for 5 bucks more a month , we only have 54,n ow and 14 of those are news, or shopping

Well then I hope you get it straightened out

I don't know how you can stand it with lines...for whatever reason, CBS is like that for me every time Survivor is on (the only time i watch CBS). Ahhwell

Had my choice of digital cable or satalite. Chose satalite. The digital cable , you had to rent a box and the picture quality was poor. Went with DTV and there Dolby Digital TIVo setup and it's very clear. Had my cable dropped to just the locals and RoadRunner.

Yep I've had both and Satellite gets my vote too, the customer service people are morons but I hate cable!!! Fingers doesn't know it but we will have a dish in PA (more than likely it will be our only alternative anyway... we'll be too far out for cable)

of course I get to choose if we have a dish.. it's part of the kitchen and that's my domain!

got it installed today

150 channels ,clear and undistorted, unlike the old cable. And I found a Photoshop 7 tutorial on CCN I think. The wife says we get digital cable, and you finally sit down to watch TV, and you watch TV about computers?

I think I need help
