While Listening to Bush, I Remember the Demo Yesterday in Central Park.

Bye now, Guys (and Gals).

About ten thousand demostrators "against war" , while another Demo at the United Nations--of a different pursuasion.

Now here are some basic facts, as I see them:

You don't go into negotiations without something to negotiate.

If the CONGRESS blows it this week, there is effectively NO bargaining position.

Sort of like sending a Union Leader in to negotiate a Settlement--buy voting against a Strike vote.

Hope the CONGRESS has the brains--yes brains--and da cujones --to pass a different kind of Strike Vote--Overwhelmingly a STRIKE vote--but with the intended effect.

Err..by the way, the friendly local UN here also reads the papers. I think.

Oh, heck YEAH!

It's one of the charms of this nation to be heavily divided and totally opposed to whatever you or GWB or anybody else is saying....witness the the threads right here on TechIMO....

With any luck, a balance gets struck. Hopefully a good one! I got tear-gassed in a demonstration in front of the Federal Building in Westwood back in '69 or '70...did I learn anything?

No way!

Congress is famous for short memories. As in, they can't remember anything before the last election and they won't plan anything that might occur after the next election.

Party politics at its best.
