i accept (grudgingly) that when i've jokingly called Cody or Mike a f00 should be avoided...but this?

as far as i can remember mike referred to wart as "piggy pig pig"
i know i may be over the line here come on, is that even used as an insult...ever? Especially considering we sometimes refer to warthog "The Pig" or "Wartpig"

it's like modding someone down because they call me "Lemon" - I used to get bullied in primary school because of my surname "McLemon" - but even considering that, i think people referring to me as "Lemon" is affectionate and shorthand and NOT derogatory.

same with warthog, "pig" is shorthand and implies affection

Listen guys, you know you're joking, but how do you think the name calling and personal insults look to other members that don't realize that you are just joking?

Again, try to put yourselves in our shoes or the shoes of other members that aren't on IRC when you decide to call each other disparaging names in the public forums.

Our rules against namecalling are not petty or frivolous, they're put there to preserve the integrity of this forum.

Yeh, fingers i'd totally understand that...if i was calling someone something that was very obviously a swear word or a word commonly used to harrass. I know the mods have a hard job distinguishing the grey areas between attack and affection, but I'm just a bit annoyed at this one instance.

Please understand that i'm not deliberately being awkward or insubordinate or anti-disestablishmentarian (whatever that means) but am trying to convey that i'm 100% confident that Mike was not being inflammatory and that this shouldn't be held against him in any way shape or form.

Let's just call it a "misunderstanding" and let it be done with

Perhaps Mike thinks that this is funny and that publicly putting someone down is entertaining. But I am tired of him calling people fools and pigs. Or am I to discriminate and ignore some members being disrespected yet expecting others to be respected?
Perhaps some have forgotten chooco and his calling warthog the names of piggy and pig? Well I have not and I edited him for doing the same thing.

I think not, but obviously Mike and Lemon[H]ead do think he is better than other members and therefore should have the special privilege of name calling and being rude to certain members.
As you can see I disagree with both of them on the subject.

Mike and Lemon[H]ead, you may conduct yourself anyway you choose privately.
But not publicly here on the boards.
I will not have new members come into this community and think that being rude is acceptable on this forum.
There are plenty of places where you can call anyone anything you like.

But TechIMO is not one of those places.

No, because it's NOT funny. That is a common greeting name that we give Warthog. It's not "putting him down" or "disrespecting" or "attacking" or even "insulting" if he acknowledges it without a problem.

No I am NOT, and I realize that I am NOT above the rules of the forum. Neither have I EVER said that I WAS above the by laws of this forum.

No you have mistaken, Mike and Lemon[H]ead do NOT think we are better than ANY members of this forum, and we of course should NOT have ANY special treatment.
Nor have I EVER said that I should get special treatment, correct?
Name calling and being rude to certain members? The only person I have been rude to recently has been Fingers and although I am not going to apologize for that, he is the ONLY one that I have been rude to.
