I just rented we Were Soldiers.(I know I'm late watching it) what an awesome movie IMO. I thought Mel Gibson did a great job playing Hal Moore, and was equally impressed at how the y used the real people's views, opinions, and so on.
Most war movies make the soldiers heros. Men that are indestructible. But this one didn't. It emphasized the fact they were only men, with wives and kids. And was not afraid to let the characters feel emotion. This was an excellent movie.

I have always been upset about the way the US sent our military into Vietnam. told them to fight. Drafted young men, sent them in to die. ANd when it was all over, gave them no respect,or recognition whatsoever. Finally a movie that addresses the issue.I don't think the govt, and the people could be more wrong. These guys did what was asked of them, at least they should be thanked.IMO.
