May, 2000, when his contract with Warner ran out. So -- he's "The Artist Formerly Known As 'The Artist Formerly Known As Prince'".

Prince, a longtime artists' rights advocate, filed at least nine lawsuits against Web sites in 1999, accusing them of selling bootlegged recordings and offering access to downloads of his songs.
| I wondered how he had the money to change his name and put together a new CD release
If he depended on me, he'd be BROKE
It is wrong of the guy to sell bootlegged cd's,and he should be punished.I don't kow about $150,000 a song though,Just IMO

Why would he sue websites? They're keeping his fading career alive.

I don't think I will be buying anything price related - for me, if the artist is an A-HOLE, then I just don't want to listen to him. I could Prince getting upset IF the guy had the files on his site, but suing over links, that's petty...
