Systems West coast Dock workers strike...

Heard it was bad for the economy in general....

What will it do to our favorite segment - IT hardware, etc.???? (Newegg and all the other retailers/distributors out there HAVE to get their products from somewhere. Probably something close to a JIT model (Just-In-Time) since the prices fluctuate so rapidly and the Mfg dates on the products are so recent (so they don't have whole warehouses full of drives, etc.)

There are dozens of ships sitting out here offshore waiting to unload, I hear it costs $25,000+ per hour for them to sit and they say local loss is a billion aday---im sure that cost will have to be passed on to someone----most likely US...

This strike hurts my employer as well. We are a manufacturing company that partially relies on shipments from overseas.

not jawdrop, but servers the same purpose!

Sad, although I'm guessing they're striking for a good reason. Laborers typically are overworked and underpaid in poor working conditions...

Under paid???? 100+K a year. 4 hour shifts. guaranteed jobs. wow. Many years ago the railroads had what was known as "featherbeding," many unneeded workers on the payroll. nevermind the fact that it was no longer needed to have some one manually move switches, or swing lanterns.
I fear many folks see a picture of the longshoremen in the picture of the old Brando movie "On the waterfront". today cargo is in containers, cranes move them, the jobs in question are basicly, clerks that keep track of the stuff, industry wants to upgrade to scanners and the like, remember store clerks had to read prices on items in the store, now scanned, same idea.
