My dear old Dad is sick...

My dad is 74 years old. He is a retired veteran of 30 years military service, with medals from 3 wars. He served in the South Pacific in the 40's, Korea in the 50's, and Vietnam in the 60's.

He had a biopsy last week, and today they told us he has cancer.

He is the first one in my family (from either side) ever known to have cancer. He will be starting chemotherapy this week. At his age, I hope he can stand it.

I saw him last night, and he's very weak.

Good Lord, please don't fail him now.

Cadd: I am sorry to hear this.

You have to be strong and believe in God in these difficult times. Chemotherapy works for some and doesn't work for some. I guess depends on the disease's progression.

Though cancer is not that common in India (we are genetically more prone to heart disease) as it is here, I have witnessed the aftermath of chemotherapy. Your dad will need all moral support at this time and I do hope he pulls out fine because he has atleast 20 years more to go.

You know very well the immediate and spontaneous prayers from all TECHIMO members in such situations and this will also be an occassion for all of us to pray for speedy recovery for your dad with minimal side effects.
