OK, that kind of blew my mind. I still cannot comprehend it, although They are definitely the same shade when you isolate them.

This is the first I've seen it though. Maybe you visit too many forums?

This is quite an illusion IMO. The squares remain completely unaltered in this picture.

It is in fact #6B696B for the HTML folks and 107,105,107 for the image editing folks...
if you take that same color and drag a line from one box the other they are the same
