Media All about R/C cars.

Well, this thread is a result of another RC car game thread.
I figure this is a better place to talk about the real R/C cars than the game thread.

I was into them really heavy before I went to college, but I am now begining to get back into it. Just have to dig up all my old gear.

Here is a basic rundown of my cars:

Kyosho 4 wheel drive rally car,
RC10,
Hawk(x2),
One home built drag car frame,
and I think I still have my RC10T.

I'll post more specs later

So, if you have em, post your specs for all to see. I am certainly interested.

My brother is into R/C jets and helicopters but check out www.rcuniverse.com for a good forum on R/C stuff including cars. I can't believe how much you can spend on a hobby.

ya some of those things are SWEET
I wish I had the $$$ to get back into them. I have a tamiya truck back home (can't remember the name, but its the same truck frame as the blackfoot/monster beetle), think my brother still has it. I wanted to put an electronic speed control on it but never did.. this was about 6 years ago when I was still making 6 bucks an hour and in college so didn't have much opportunity
Although now I'd still have to drive for a bit to find a good place to run the thing.. I live in concrete land now

I have a 1/8th scale Serpent Veteq 4wd on-road car that I got last year to race and a Traxxas Nitro4tec (also onroad) for fun and raced 1/8th scale off-road for awhile---luckly we have a great track right by the house in the parkinglot of Crystal Park Casino and is open year round featuring a giant off-road track and a world class onroad track with electronic scoring and drivers stand, my budget only allows spring and fall Veteq racing tho as parts costs are pretty high---ive been into rc for quite awhile now but its best if I stay "grounded" my few experiences at flying proved to be way too expensive...

I have a Associated RC10T2 that has been sleeping for 3 years.

I also have a Tamiya Monster Beetle scattered in parts all around the basement.

Basically, I haven't used my cars since the local RC shop closed.

I race them competitively! I'm a Losi guy, so all my vehicles are Losi's...except where they don't make one (1/12 scale) so I went with a Trinity Switchblade. I only race electrics. I've tried Nitro, but couldn't get them going. I spent more time wrenching them than I did driving them! I currently have:

XXX Kinwald X 2 (one for backup)
XXX-T Matt Francis
XXX-S Full Graphite
Trinity Switchblade Spashett Edition

all controlled with my trusty M8...and the other racers still call me a computer geek

I am looking to put together a Clodzilla sometime. But my real off road truck has more tug on the checkbook than my R/C stuff.

I always wanted to get the sled for pulling
That'd be pretty awesome if you could get a truck pull with friends.

For a while I had a nice little RC-10 that was semi-"tricked out". I got my it (+ remote + many spare parts + charger + extra battery pack) from a friend that raced them. It was about $350 worth of hardware that he let me have for about $125. And because he raced them he had his car modded quite a bit. He had all the excess weight trimmed off, and the suspension was lowered and stiffened, low profile super-soft tires.

That was fun for while, but luckily the spare parts included another set of tires (knobby) and larger, softer shocks for transition back into a Baja buggy.

But it got stolen!

I'll never forget one night when driving with a friend I noticed there was no one on the road we were going down. So I stopped the truck and told him to put the RC-10 out in front of us then get back in the truck and control it while I drove behind it. I just wanted to see how fast it was.

Well, nothing too exciting about this story (I didn't run over my RC-10 or anything like that ) but I was pretty impressed that the little thing could do a little over 30 mph.
