The history of w00t??

there is a question that has been boggling my mind. where did w00t come from and what exactly does it mean? i know it can be used as a form of exclamation such as "he** yeah!" or "yay!", but what is the "definition" for lackof better words? i first heard the term about 2 years ago while playing an online rpg called Graal. there was something about goats that say w00t. just exploring my curiosity again...
