Sony pulled that crap on me, saying I did not include the required UPC code from the laptop box. How very convienent that the one ORIGINAL item that I could not resubmit to them mysteriously disappeared from the envelope somewhere between my mailbox and theirs.

Fortunately, I did photocopy the UPC before I mailed it, and after I told them emphatically that I DID INDEED already send the original, they accepted a facsimile of the UPC. Took nearly 5 months, but I did finally recieve the rebate....

Mail in rebates should not be legal IMO, because even when the customer does everything exactly like they require, they still try to reduce the number of rebates they send out by dumping the contents into the trash can and then saying they never recieved them. God will eventually exact punishment on these low-life liars... too bad he doesn't strike down the scumbags on the spot though.

Now that I'm done ranting, alondra call up the rebate department and demand to talk to a supervisor.

Yep, you sometimes gotta give em hell to get your rebates... I've got about $200 of rebates coming in form RebatesHQ.com and I had to call em up for a couple of problems and had to argue with em. The key over here, is to be persistent and polite but never get angry with em... they eventually give in .

Has anyone heard the one about "...you've exceeded you limit..." of Maxtor rebates? I've never run across that one before.

Keep all petainent information when you send your rebate, including photostats of the coupon, sales slip, and UPC code. If you get any hassles after attempting reasonable adjustments, report such to the Federal Trade Commission. They are on the trail of the rebate scam.

The company offering the rebates is being held responsible and cannot shift the responsibility to the rebate expediting company. But also note if you are dealing with a company in financial straights, you may get a hollow victory.

Both my daughter and I purchased the Cendyne CDRW with a $50 rebate from Staples. I'm in Oregon, she's in Mississippi. She used my e-mail, so they rejected the rebate based on the 1 per household/family/address rule. I e-mailed them and never got a response. I talked to the Staples Manager here and he asked me to bring in the reciept and rejection letter. When I did, he gave me the rebate in cash!

That's why I like Staples!
