so long teenage years
Well today marks my 20th birthday, so that means i am no longer a teenager. I guess i'll have to grow up some (yeah right, we'll see how well that works!). I was thinking about this and it brings up an interesting point: we have these certain "ages" where we reach a new "stage". like at 18 we are now considered adults, 20 we are no longer teenagers, 21 our bodies are old enough to deal with alchohol properly, 40 we are "over the hill", etc. Just a thought i had today. Do you guys think this is justified? i know i didn't feel like an adult at 18 (still don't really feel much like an adult). discuss.

Now to your question:
I don't know about 40 being over the hill, but I do think that young people should be expected to conduct themselves a certain way at each of the previously mentioned ages. 18-21 year olds still lack true wisdom, but they should at least behave like they're trying...

Many Happy Returns, Originel!
I can vouch for forty plus not being 'over the hill', but all of my life people have told me that 'I can be very Trying.....'

that's my point exactly. while yes i will definitely show someone who is 40 my respects, am i that different than i was 2 years ago? and did something happen to me magically overnight? i think not. it's like steroetyping, while yes it is true a lot of times, it's not always, and the difference from the day before you turned a year older to that next day is inconsequancial, except for what we make of it.

Interesting point, originel.
I guess there have to be lines drawn somewhere, about what is appropriate for what age?
Although I waved goodbye to being double your age some time ago, I still feel the same about some things as I did when I was 18!

dunno... after my 18th birthday I grew up pretty fast
Sometimes things happen in your life that push you into adult hood much faster than you'd like.. it wasn't until I was 23 or 24 I started realizing I was growing up too fast and I still tend to do so (I do have my moments of being a little immature too lol).. but while yes its good to want to grow up and be an adult...
Its good not to grow up too fast too

Happy Birthday
37 and still working on Adult myself
The only difference btween 16 and 32 is who pays the bills. I had a kid @ 17,19,and 27. That pushes you to act like an adult, to try to make responsible decisions. Does it work Partially.
Hey lifes good if ya don't sleep through it
