Have several friends in Germany, and they generally have nothing other than Bosch appliances. They swear by them.

Having used them while I was over there, I can say that I liked them as well.....

The bosch is $150.00 more than the Whirlpool and the silence ratings are the same (52 dB ). I would not get a GE after the experience I just had with one.

Being a general contractor by trade I have installed most of the brands sold. I do not recomend the bosch. I installed one for a cleint and after about 3 months of use it quit working. I went to his home and pulled the bottom access cover. Bosch uses a plastic block with alloy screws (at least they did) for the power supply connections. The screws had become corroded and the plastic block had melted along with the supply wires. I cut the wires and put them together with wire nuts and taped them with electrical tape (this is the way ALL other dishwashers are wired).
Been working fine ever since.
Sorry about the long reply but Boschs supply wiring connect block is a piece of junk and this was a $1000.00 unit.
I was glad that it did nothing more than melt the block and pull the circuit breaker as this could have been the start of a house fire.

My opinion

Being a service tech , I have found that parts are not as readily available for a Bosch, Asko , etc imported brands. When they are , expect to pay a premium price for them. Go with a nice Kitchen-Aid or Maytag. In the trade we don't have much respect for GE made appliances. Cheap on the front end when you buy them but repair parts sometimes cost 2-3 times as much for a comparable part on another brand.

You can get them as fancy as you want with all the bells and whistles, costs more, more to break, etc. The Maytag I haven't as much experience with but the stainless steel tub K-Aids I have installed lots of and are very quiet. Check out my pal Jeffs website.www.applianceaid.com. Also the forum at doityourself.com, ask the techs
http://forum.doityourself.com/forumd....php?forumid=1

Go to maytag and K-aids websites and browse.

Sorta hate ta say this but I'm incredibly happy with my Kenmore dishwasher. It works so well and is so quiet and has the same features as many others. I bought it fer bout 400, give er take some. Alot of appliances are made from the same manufacturer, at least that's what I heard. Some pros here may know otherwise. That may be a trade secret though?????

There are about 5 major domestic manufacturers.
Whirlpool and they make Whirpool,KitchenAid,Roper,Estate,
Maytag makes Maytag, owns Amana,Magic Chef, Admiral(also sold as Mongomery Wards brand),Norge,JennAir..maybe more I forget.
Electrolux-used to be White Consolidated Industries(WCI) Frigidaire,Tappan,Kelvinator,White Westing-House
GE-also makes Hotpoint,RCA,JC Penney brand

Kenmore,Sears brand name can be made by various of the above, the only way to know for sure unless youre a technician and recognize the set up is to decode the model#. For instance on Kenmore washers at the beginning of the model# there will be a 110.xxxxxxxxxx , in this case the 110 being the source code that means Whirlpool is the maker.A link about model#s

If you have more questions let me know.
And tell my friend Jeff hello while you're at his site.
