RIAA, Copyright, sharing, and the US goverment

This thought actually comes from another person, but it has me in awe.

The RIAA has as its current fixation the 'sharing' of copyrighted material. You know, Napster and KaZaa and other P2P networks.

They are so intent on this that they have called for new and stricter laws in this area. To get these laws they have gone to the 'devil' himself and asked 'please pass a law against yourself'.

If that seems to not make sense give me moment.

You see the RIAA has gone to the US goverment and asked for these laws. Now the US goverment has been in the business of sharing copyrighted material sense it was created. It has supported warehouse sized free sharing buildings in almost every city, town and hamlet in the country. All stocked with tons of copyrighted material free for the borrowing.

The name of this most secret goverment crime center you ask?

The public library.

If you support the public library then please oppose the RIAA.

Please.

hmm

Don't know what to say so I'll say this...

In support of the anti-RIAA movement, I just downloaded yet another "illegal" mp3, Gavin Rossdale - Adrenaline (pretty cool!).

The RIAA burns me up.

Every business in the US is online - but not the RIAA - they stick to the same buisness model - and cry about P2P to the government.

They're still producing albums, with 1-2 decent songs out of 18.

In the few actual trials that they've done, they offer non-selling songs for $1 each. Where's the savings? You take the entire manufacturing and distribution cost out of the equation - and there should be a substantial savings ($1 X 18songs = $18.. cost of retail CD = $15-20).

And - in a year where the economy is in the toilet.. they whine that music sales are down 7% and point the finger at P2p. They refuse to acknowledge that they are putting out substandard products (for the most part) and their business model is outdated.

Idiots.
