from what I could gather there are possible two more storms lined up after this one. T.S Lili and T.S. Kyle.

Thanks Korgul, it's been raining since last night. Stopped now, ready to get the boots on and check out the yard. Looks like it should hit the shore due south of us about 1 -2 am. I speant about 600 bucks this year getting some of my TALL oaks trimmed up, hope it helps....

I got some batteries yesterday (some of the last available!!) and a Coleman propane so I can at least cook a bit. The well goes out with the power and the only gas set up is for hot water heaters, which won't help at all. Got a pool so we can bucket out water to flush, which is important. The power co is just down the street so we usually are not out of power very long. I jsut renewed the basic flood insurance. We are about 13 feet above sea level, but it doesn't take too much for the ditches to fill up. Then those water mocasinss, gotta watch for em. A tropical storm should be ok, just hope it doesn't strengthen into a 2 or 3 hurricane which it shouldn't.

BTW, we are on the north shore of Lake Ponchatrain about 1 hour from New Orleans. School is cancelled for 2 days. This is serious but all in all I think we should all be ok. Bring em on, there's a few more out there and we are getting our practice run done....

Appreciate the sentiment.............

Hey guys, very cool of ya to think of the very few of us down here on the GC...luckily the storm is staying west of my area. We should experience heavy thunderstorms with moderate winds, nothing more. However, this is exactly what Hurricane OPAL was doing before it made a sudden turn in the middle of the night, gained strength, and opened up a can of whoop-ass on us. Keep in mind that the East side of the Hurrican'e eye gets the worst of it.

I'll be sleeping with one eye open just in case...

Thanks again!

Mike

ACK!!!

UPDATE: We already had one tornado hit our county earlier this afternoon...we were just issued another tornado warning for the next 1/2 hour. I'm not too worried about me, but my son is staying with his Mom tonight. You can bet I'll be calling there every 10 minutes...
