This is just getting way out of hand....
What are people thinking these days??????????????? Every day it seems you hear about this crap! http://www.cnn.com/2002/US/South/09/....ap/index.html Quote: |
The girl weighed just 25 pounds, less than half the normal weight for a child her age, when police found her this month, according to a police report.

Most liberals will tell you otherwise, but I strongly believe some people just need to die. They don't deserve to inhabit this planet with the rest of us. That's a couple of them there.

Wish I could read good news.
Like that group in alaska that saved a womans life (from a burning building). Or the group that saved the miners in that cave in. Or ...
Notice that even the good news centers on something bad.
How about a good news channel, one that tells of the success of the common person in everyday life. Where something like 'a beautiful day happened today at the park' was the lead story...
But such is not going to happen. Good thingsonly get tinyratings, even if they are what society needs.
Going to go now, before I rant again.
Wish I could do more...

If bad stuff didn't happen then there would be no good stuff. There would be just stuff that happened. Sounds boring to me.

I'd say the girl who was caught on security video beating up her 4 year old daughter and the recent 2 cases of baby deaths because of being left in a closed car in very hot weather go in this category.
These people need to be locked up for a long time.

For once, I absolutely entirely agree with OuTpaTienT! Even the words he chose do it for me!
There is an ongoing case in the UK, of a 2 year old, who, in the medical opinion simply gave up the will to live, having been abused so much! The coroner makes it something like 58 distinguishable bruises, 18 cigarette burns ( incl the soles of her feet) and four clearly broken bones at the time of her death.
It upsets me on every level, as a parent, human being, medic and ( apparently ) educated person.
Thank you OuT!

However much it may anger/outrage us, wishing such people were dead will not address the underlying sociological/economic/psychological problems at all.
Prime example: Andrea Yates who drowned her 5 kids. No useful purpose will be served in her execution except perhaps satisfying our collective human guilt or relief from a sense of vindication.
A knee-jerk reaction in executing such perps will, in the longer run, actually make the problem worse by distracting from the causes and addressing the symptoms.
These incidents/events, however isolated, need to be subjected to an intense case-by-case scrutiny and, of course, if there are malafide intentions, the guilty punished appropiately.
Hysteric and medieval reactions must be controlled if we, as humanity, are to progress both socially and morally.

I would think something more Biblical would suffice. Such as subjecting them to the same tortures as their victims. Code of Hamurabi (Sp) at it's finest. Although I do agree with you on addressing the causes instead of the effects
