Well, I come from a state that has this as a very prevalent issue. It was on our state house until about a year ago and it still provides plenty of debate b/c it is now on a state monument on state grounds and flies very high in the sky. (I am from and am speaking about South Carolina, not Texas, where I now reside.)
I believe it is a historical item that brings about pride in many but it also represents (somewhat incorrectly) slavery to others.
I have always voted that the flag be taken down for one simple reason. IT IS THE WRONG FLAG!
This is a flag flown on the battle field, not the true confederate flag . If any flag should be flown to commemorate the confederate legacy, FLY THE
RIGHT FLAG . No one, even those who fight fervently for the flag, thinks that we are still at war. So why fly the battlefield flag?
Just an angle to the argument that I rarely hear and find very strange that it is absent...
Have a good one
Dave
