Outdoors Rotten Electrical Outlet

Well the time is around again for inspection. After my last inspection I was really suprised that some of the outlets passed. Here is a picture of one that we just changed out. I had originally thought that the landlord just painted over the soft covering that goes under the plate of the outlet. Not to my knowledge did I know it was actually rotten. Im serious it was rotten all the way through. Have you ever seen a falling apart rotten electrical outlet.

This and many other things are wanting me to move and is planning for the move in january or feburary.

Here is a pic.

Fortunatly this is one outlet that I don't use. This outlet is also hardwired to some switches. This just totally blows my mind, no wonder the landlord er slumlord painted over it heavy, too damm lazy to change them out. Also changed out a few others that had too much paint on the insides. Geezzzz, Can't wait to get out of this house. Many things wrong with this house. Suprises it even passes inspections. So we will see wednesday if passes again or not.

Good point surreal. I call these dumpy places my stepping stones. Meaning I just need to step here for a little while till its time to finish crossing the river with each new stepping stone showing up at the right time.

Just blows me that landlords would keep thier homes they own in such crappy conditions.

Other things haven't seen yet.
1. The toilet, sits at an angle.
2. Slip shoodie repairs in walls that I have repaired myself after landlord does a bunged up job of it.
3. List goes on and on and on.

Soon a new rock will show up and I can proceed forward.

looks like someone tried to plug in a new appliance that has the wide prong on one side, and the outlet doesn't have it

I have seen this before though, kinda scary

There are lot of things that need fixed in this house as well, but the landlord keeps sayin "fix it yourself" and I keep sayin "BUT DAD!!"

The sad thing is that a new coverplate and outlet together cost 79 cents, and you can change one in five minutes after the power is turned off.

Ten minutes if you're slow as molassas in January.

Neo, I feel your pain. The current tin box I live in took 40 hours of my own time to get up to code before I could move in, and at that it took 3 months to get everything finalized. I told him I wanted the water damaged ceiling fixed in one of the bedrooms. His idea of fixing it was to let the insulation dry and replace the ceiling panel...that's it! Needless to say, I did it myself. Ripped out the ceiling and insulation-replaced everything. But before that, I checked to see why the water damage was there in the first place. Can you say baseball sized hole in the roof? Kinda points to the problem doesn't it? I could go on for pages describing the crud I had to deal with to get this place, not to mention the stuff that still needs to be done.

Just goes to show that most people that own multiple buildings, etc use the cheapest materials, the easiest way to fix/hide the problem. You'd be suprised at what I see in the homes I work in that are landlord controlled.
