Steering "Issue"...

Howdy,

I've got a new BMW, and over the last week or two, I've noticed that if my steering wheel is turned to the extreme left or right, and I quickly try to turn it in the opposite direction, the steering wheel sort of "locks", but if I ease up and try again, it's fine.

It doesn't hinder anything, but it is sort of something wierd that I'll probably want to have checked out. But does anyone have any idea what would cause this?

If its new take it back to dealership beemer dealerships are supposed to be pretty good and it damn well better be covered by warranty

lol... Yeah, it's still under warranty - and I make those motions because... well, let's just say I'm very impatient when it comes to driving.

I'm taking it to the dealership regardless, but I'm curious to know what is causing it. If I ask the mechanic, I'll just get the usual "*sigh* ... (Insert pointless, random explanation combined with three to four half truths..)"

Heh! * Leaps to the defence of BMW *

It could be just a quirk in the geometry, or the rack.

Get it checked by all means, but dont expect the worst.

Not from a BM. Sheesh.

That is probably the most confusing thing I've seen all week.

It's a 2002 M3, if that's what you mean.
