Opinion on a fair price for this PC

A person that is leaving the company ( semi-good terms) wishes to purchase a PC that she has been using at home. (we let her take it home to do "homework")

What is a fair asking price?

PII 450/256MB/5gb HDD/Viper550/17"monitor/KB,Mouse,56k modem etc.

Loaded with, but not original discs ;Win98/Photshop5.5/Office2000
Custom built

What would YOU pay? or How I learned to stop ignoring people questions and give my opinion

I bought a Dell very similar to that about three years ago from a company I was working for when I left for about $100. Is it a custom built one, or something like Dell, Gateway, etc.?

If you're not giving the original software CDs and just the hardware plus whatever's loaded, I'd say $150 is a fair price.

With the 17" monitor I would dare go $200... with all that software $400 would be right... maybe a little more.

I was thinking near $300-350 ( software incl)
Any higher and I would suggest to her to buy a new, modern machine
I believe the MOBO was an Abit BH6

Hmmm.... well the software costs about $200 new.... so yeah maybe $400 was a bit overpriced... $300 sounds good.

$325 sounds about right...especially if you're willing to provide support. She should be very happy to pay that much for a known good working system...including the 17" monitor.

$300 with that software package.

With NO optional software, maybe $150.

The base computer is only worth $150-160 "Retail"
Used 17" monitor, maybe $50, max

This only has a 5gb HD, very small, and likely to fail pretty soon.

She'd better want the software badly as the computer has a small market value, and an employee leaving on decent terms should be given a break.

$150~ w/o Software
Judgement on the software,, add $100-150
