fine.
Let's see (how would I start an interesting discourse without offending anyone or referring to sex, both freedoms which are widely accepted as two of this countries main pillars?) I am not a patriot by the way...
If I trully beieve something, or if I trully gain pleasure from it, what then stops me from attaining that certain something? In my case, it was simply a matter of practicality. Although I really wanted to make a point (albeit not as well-worded as it could have been), it wa simply easier for me to bow down and submit.
In a larger context, who has the right to hinder my way to happiness (for lack of a better word)?

Are you still talking about the other thread or have we finally moved on?
*edit*
I changed the text style back to normal because I felt like I was whispering...not my style

When in Rome.....
TechIMO is not the democracy of the USA. It's a semi-autonomous community headed by our benevolent dictator, ScottW.
He makes the rules: we abide by them if we want to be apart of the Community. Simple.
IMO
Cheers
Mick
BTW Wart are you into small speeches at the moment? | |

It then depends on your view of what makes you happy.
If you're into cannibalism, and living inthis country then I would hope that the law would stop you. It IS against the law... you live in the country you are forced to abide by their laws.
If you're an anarchist then build your own country and let fellow anarchists kill you because they want to be in control.

"...you live in the country you are forced to abide by their laws."
As Jean Paul-Sartre had said, we despair when we finally realize that we're not forced to do anything. At least, no one forces us but ourselves. Only out of practicality do we submit.

No matter where you go in life, there are rules!
Some, you agree with, some you accept, some you disagree with.
The rules we have here are/were put in place for good reasons and while some don't fit into the agree or accept catagories, we live with them.
We do have some great discussions here and at times, they come close to crossing the line. But, we try to not cross the line and when we do, the MODS bring us back. That way everyone can enjoy TechIMO and spread the knowledge without offending.
Harder
BTW, welcome to TechIMO!

You could always be a caveman and be one with the trees.
