Question about SAT / ACT
I was wondering if there are any online resources, web-sites with sample questions, what to expect, etc. I just got back from Barnes and noble and Borders and I really don't want to pay $50 for a SAT prep book if I don't have to.
Let me know! Thanks!!
Mike

So which are you taking SAT or ACT? (both!? pscyho! lol)
If you're going to UofM I believe they use the ACT along with most schools in Michigan.

Well I don't know which test to take, I have to do research on different colleges, I think ACT right now though... No no no!! I won't and don't think my brain could take the abuse of taking both the SAT/ACTs... |

haha, I took the ACT ages ago and it wasn't too bad..
Can't remember how long it took, something like 4 hours or something. As I said most schools in MI use the ACT.. but I know a lot still use the SAT ... Good luck!
I'd suggest finding the schools you want and find out which test they require. Some I believe even accept both.

If you are going to actually do the practice tests... work the questions study etc, buy the books. Otherwise save your money.
ACT is 3-4 hours tops. Just get a good nights sleep, don't worry about it too much, go into it with an open mind. The most important thing is to just keep chugging even if it looks grim. You'd be suprised how well you do when you are done.
SAT is the same song and dance but longer I think. I took the ACT 6-7 years ago and the SAT 10-11 years ago so who knows what has changed. I know in the SAT there was no penalty for leaving an answer blank. ie it is not as bad to leave it blank as to get it wrong. The ACT you need to make sure to answer every question.
Anyone here take the FE (EIT)? Makes the ACT look like a times table quiz.

I think it's 1/4 point off (something like that) if you answer and get it wrong on the SAT.

Yep wart, can't remember the penalty though. Its not that you get penalized in ACT for leaving one blank, its just to your benefit to guess.
In the SAT as wart said you get penalized for answering and getting it wrong, so its actually better NOT to guess. In the ACT if you get it wrong its no worse than leaving it blank so may as well play the odds guess

I know the ACT fell into dis-favor a number of years ago, but it's coming back strong again. I took the ACT back in '74, so wouldn't be much help other than the advice Gomer gave ya'. (All I did was get a good nights sleep and went in with an open mind! ) 31
