M$ shoots itself in the foot?

Here's another one about the SP1 update for XP. This time however the conclusions of the officials cited in the article are the ones that scare me.

quote
Clark has an idea, though. "Since the automatic update/security holes only apply to Microsoft, the health care industry needs to go to Microsoft with a joint NDA (nondisclosure agreement) and indemnification agreement, requiring Microsoft to hold their HIPAA-compliant customers harmless should patient information be leaked via this mechanism."
unquote

So its OK with this health care official if M$ has full and total access to the medical records of the world? Just as long as the health care industry is not held legally responsible he is fine with it...

Why doesn't he mention the possible option of a different OS? Can anyone say Linux? That was the first thing that went thru my mind when I read the words "Clark has an idea, though".

This might be the wrong time to bring this up, but just how many bank, credit, employment, and other records would M$ have access to? How much of our governments records? Our militaries records? Anyones any kind of records? (Is BG working for the CIA?)

Nuff for now, I'm getting paranoid (but just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you...)

Hehehehe, CE, what else is new?

The cavalier/CYA maneuvers aside, it really is a different world, and notions like "confidentiality" are going by the www.wayside.

The medical industry and the insurance industry have been sharing this data for decades. I suspect we're merely seeing a new glitch, in which personal data just becomes even more common.... and accessable.

This, too, is the real face of this computer revolution.
