This article has one very interesting line...
"Last week, officials said their real concern is that top civilian leaders such as the secretary of State might be targeted for legal action."
And that just about sums up the problem. The elected (?) officials don't give a damn about the citizensor the soldiers, just themselves.
Is it just me or is this administration slowly taking away accountablity and checks & balances?
First Bush asks for the authority to start war on his word. When congress is slow to give that to him he balks the anti-terrorist action in Afganistan, long enough to make congress look like the culprits. Then he goes ahead and invades a soveriegn foriegn nation without even declaring war.
Back in the USA he sets up a shadow goverment, and sets precedent for a president in office to be imune to US law. With these two actions the US citizens were reduced to cattle. But we ate up the hype that these actions were needed to meet the emergency.
Now he has gone and all but stated that the USA (read GWB) is immune to international law. Or at least its courts. Presumably he means that the charges would go in front of a US court, which no longer has the authority to try a president in office... Sort of a real neat trick, huh?
Just wonder what his next move is, and just how many of the stupid things he's done will start to make sense...
All hail the President for life...
