Here we go
We just moved into our new apartment August 9th. No problem with mail right? The number is on the mail box, the only legal requirement to receive mail, so no problem. Oh, that;'s right, I receive the "this is your new address" letter in the mail along with miscellaneous junk. EVERY day I pick up the mail that comes. Then suddenly the mail just stops coming. I figured, well maybe I just didnt get any mail today. Then it didnt come for 5 straight days. Now, I know that in 5 days I would receive SOME mail. Well, here I go dialing the post office. Where I am informed that Yes, legally you do only need a number, but their standard practice here is to not deliver unless you put your name on teh box. When asked why, when I was receiving and picking up the mail would it stop being delivered, he responded "It's our standard practice". Now, he fully acknowledged that you ONLY need a number legally. Now, since I hadn't received any of this mail, all of which the post office has no idea where it is, and it hasnt been sent back, i've called and checked, consequently I was late on all of the bills this month. I never received any of them. It gets better too. Not only did I never receive any bills, I still have yet to receive my tuition bill or loan checks, all of which were mailed out and supposedly delivered

. I also never received the letter telling me when I had to go to traffic school for a stupid ticket. So, after a few calls, I found out that that WAS Sept 7th and I missed it. So now I get to pay a nice fee and reschedule. And apparantly all of this mail just went into the post office black hole since my name wasnt on the box. What a joke the postal system here is. Oh well, all the bills are back in the mail and paid late. The real problem will be getting them to cut me a new $1700 check for loans. That should be a fun one. Alright, that's it for now. I just feel a little pissed since I've done everything I legally need to do to receive my mail, but for some reason they can make me meet all of their extraneous standards before they stop losing my mail. Bleh.
