Anyone here take dilantin

Does anyone here take dilantin and have a tingling feeling in their extremeties. I have been reading thru some information that dilantin delplets the body of Vitamin b6 ,b12 and folic acid.
My reason for this post is that I am having these simptoms and have been taking dilantin.

You should talk to your doctor.

That will happen, I consult her on anything reragding my health. I have been messed up by general doctors in the past, I will never take a new medication without consulting my neurlolgist. I had a seizure once due to a muscle relaxer that ageneral doctor gave me for a pain in my shoulder. I asked this doctor three times regaridng the effects of this medicine and dilantin,'it is ok" is what he told me. The next morning I had a seizure.

But until then I am doing some research on my own and came across the foic acid deficeincy and tingling in the extremeties situation and was wondering if anyone else has this situation.

You can also ask your Pharmacist for the physician insert. It will list contraindications and side effects.

I took it for about 18 months a number of years ago. Never had any problems. Follow your instincts and check with your doctor.
Good luck.

Doctor is out till monday, guess I will have to suffer a couple more days.I have not had any problems until about a year ago. From what I have read I suspect that foic acid in bosy is greatly reduced and in need of a supplement.

My mother-in-law is on it to control seizures and had similar symtoms... turned out to be the Vitamin deficency... her doctor put her on vitamins to replace it but it turned out that too much of a good thing messed her up too. The docotor perscribed too much vitamin and she started having other strange problems. Just something to watch out for.
