The Blue Angels are in town!
Yesterday - the Blue Angels arrived at our local Naval Air Station.
Given it was the anniversary of 9/11 - It seemed uplifting in some way.
Cool watching them fly around and practice.. The airshow is this weekend - I've got reserved parking passes and tickets to the 'commander's cupola' - should be fun.

Oh, man, I would LOVE to see them again...saw them about 40 years ago, and I remember it vividly to this day. They performed maneuvers that I could hardly believe even then!!
The big adjectives like awesome, incredible, unbelieveable, etc. somehow aren't enough!
Get ready for an airshow you'll never forget, Ken! |

Yep, they put on a great show. Also, if you haven't seen it before, pay close attention to "Fat Albert", their maintenance plane, if they fly it. It's awesome.
They're no Thunderbirds, of course, but they're not too shabby. j/k
We had an "air" show here last weekend, but the cloud ceilings were way too low. Didn't allow for much "air" in the show.
Enjoy it, man! |

I too have seen them Ken and still get excited thinking about it. You are in for a real treat, enjoy! You won't even believe what you are seeing with your own eyes. Makes you wonder how people like Joan London and some news reporters have been able to get to fly with them. Man, I'd give most anything to hitch a ride with them once.

I'm lucky!! I work in downtown Annapolis, MD (where the Naval Academy is located) and they fly here every year for USNA Graduation. Climb the stairs up to the roof and get the free show!! SWEET!!!!
Watch out for the "sneak pass"! Love that one! (just barely sub-sonic, flat out, low altitude. You see him go by and he's moving away before you hear him!)
See link below for wallpapers, etc. (like the one I posted with WTC in the background) http://www.navy.com/blueangels |

I was at Lemoore NAS (CA) in '83 when they were there. Great show, much better then 'Thunderbirds', (don't fly into the ground as often) [Sick Naval Air joke] And saw them again in Cleveland in 2000.
Seen the USAF Thunderbirds at least a dozen times as my parents live about two miles from Youngstown (Trafficant) Air Force Reserve Base. The USN Blue Angels are much better!
Ohhh! I may have just P.O.'ed a Mod.
Sorry, nothing personal!

I catch them every year at Marine Corp Air Station Miramar. Where else can you see F-14,F-15, F-16, F/A-18, AV-8B Harrier, and F117 demos on top of the Blues? |
