wrapped in flag

Two men awoke early this morning near ground zero after camping out all night to get a good position to mark the first anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks

I'm all for people who love the flag, but using it as an overcoat??

However, those who made that much effort to participate in the commemoration have my respect. I'm listening on the radio and it's very moving.

You are not supposed to use the flag as clothing except when it is a patch on a shirt or some sort of small emblem. What he is doing is techinically dessicrating the flag, even though I assume he means well.

I am a veteran and believe strongly in the flag but customs and traditions do change over time. When these customs were thought up, flags were not readily available and commercialized as they are today. You didnt drive through neighborhoods on national holidays seeing every other house with a flag attached somewhere. They were hand stitched and hard to come by.

This guy obviously has his heart into it and that speaks for itself. The way I see it, the flag represents the United Stated of America and he is taking comfort with it wrapped around him...

It's not the economics behind it, it is what it stands for that makes each and every flag almost sacred.

I agree that his intentions were good.

He feels proud about this nation and its colors

I too am a vet and must confess I've always struggled with clothing that even appears to be made from a flag....yes, even wrapping one's self in a flag doesn't sit will with me. I am quite certain they mean well but I'll weigh in along with daveleau.
