i suspect that life in prison in Iran means that either you live in some hole in the ground filled with rats for the rest of your life or that the other inmates will rape and torture him until he dies

Epidemic, most of these horrors (stoning for adultery, female circumcision, burkas for women) aren't in the Koran. They're stupid, brutal tribal customs that stupid, brutal people have incorporated into their notion of religion. That doesn't make them any better; but let's not blame the text. Plenty of Christians have decided on the basis of their own cultural prejudices to punish severely stuff that's not even mentioned in the Christian Bible (aka New Testament).

(If you want to cite bad stuff that is in the Koran, fine. And I'll come right back with equal ghastliness from both Hebrew and Christian Bibles.)

The part of the article that I am kinda refering to is the "islamic law"

I took that to mean to do with the koran.

In the old testament does it ever say kill the victim of a crime? I mean we are not talking about a punishment for a murderer or a rapist. But the victim of that rape. A 7 year old girl.

I have heard some real nasties come out of the old testament but never punish the victims. That is like totally and completely over the top.
