Sept 11/01 on film?

I was watching access hollywood and they were talking about sept 11th.

What they were saying is that should there be a movie made about 9/11 2001.

I think they were trying to put out the point that it would be some type of Hollywood movie and not a documentary like we've seen on the Discovery Channel.

So what do you think?

I also think that they should not produce a movie right now, maybe in the years to come but right now while our memories are so fresh with the CNN and local channel news about the victims and so much hard work by the Police/Fire/Paramedics/Hospital workers.

Right now I think we should just be together and remember it with our hearts and words.

I don't want to rant here but....

Do we really need to see Sept 11th again in all its horror? I personally do not want to see it like I did on CNN that early morning. I feel sad about it and every time I see it, it just makes me more mad about people who would do such a thing to people in this world. (I will not go on).

No...Hollywood would pervert 9/11 too much. The gov. should just make a good documentary.

agreed.. there is no way a movie can really explain the whole situation.. they can not match the emotions involved. A documentary is fine, its supposed to be simply informational. With a movie they would try to instill the same emotions one would go through on that day.. simply not possible and would end up just bastardizing the whole thing to cheap special effects and in turn show disrespect for the families involved.

Maybe in 60 years, like Pearl Harbor. Heck, make it 20 (Tora! Tora! Tora!)

Totally agree... wait some time before even thinking about a movie... A documentary on the other hand would be great.
I remember hearing a story about a guy who went upto Robert DeNiro and handed him a script of Mayor Rudy for a 9/11 film at an awards show or something. DeNiro took the dude and threw him out .

No a movie would just turn out to be a cross between Earthquake (70's) and Armageddon, Not based on fact, but on what will sell tickets, IMO.
I have seen the documentaries on Discovery, and alos on History. They were good based in fact, and not streched beyond belief.
As time goes on and people forget, they will make a movie I'm sure. Pearl Harbor is a good movie, but is it based in fact,no.But do I have any emotional ties to it? Only out of patriotisim. And in 20-30-60 years when they do make the movie. The people going to see it won't have as many emotional ties to it as we do today.

I'll go for the documentary

A quality dramatised documentary would be best IMO, not made by the US gov, but perhaps the BBC with full assistance from the US.
Lets have facts not fiction.

I would like to see a Movie made. I've watched documentarys on a few things and they are usually so mono tone that its hard to stay awake through.

I can't even start to imagine what all those people were going through before they died but movies help with understanding some of what the people were feeling in a way that poeple can understand and relate to.

I don't beleive the American public is ready for a movie like this but in ten or twenty years it would a wonderful reminder of this event kind of like the movie Pearl Harbor.

Just my opinion though so take it for what it worth

I think a movie would be crap, but there has been several documentarys allready... The best one IMO happened by chance.. it was on HBO I think... 2 brothers were doing a documentary on some NYC firemen.. they had pretty much lived with the firemen day in and day out. I think if I remember right 9-11 was supose to be the last day of the dumentary but ofcourse it was only the begining. These were the guys that got the majorty of live footage that you saw from 9-11... I'm not 100% but I think they were the only ones to get footage of the 1st plane hitting. Anyway I can't remember the title but it only played on HBO and was done very well.
