Campus computer repair

I am hoping you guys can come up with some good ideas for this one. Our ITS department recently handed down a handes off approach to fixing students computers on campus. In the past students were able to bring their computers down to tech services and we would work on just about anything that needed to be done. From installing new hardrives to reinstalling operating systems we would do it all. Now they have moved us and have direct supervision over what we do, so we are unable to help students with anything but connection problems. Well seeing this as a valuable oportunity to make some money on the side I decided that I could work on students computers for reasonable rates. I wrote up a release form that the student would have to sign in order for me to work on their computer which I had my lawyer look over to exempt me from any legal complications. I have put up flyers in the dorms this weekend advertising my services, I am also posting a small ad in the school paper this week. The question I have is how could I further advertise to students in hopes of gaining more customers? Thank you in advance for any and all ideas.

It's a campus community, right? Get some guys/gals and get them to spread the word for you!
Either offer them something or find the best rumourmongers you can find. Word of mouth in that kind of situation is priceless!

Also, is there a student computer club? Definitely let THEM know!

Good luck Darth.

Cheers
Mick

Great idea. The vast majority of students have no idea how to do simple maintenance on their LAPTOP. Desktops are becoming a thing of the past here at Tech.

Shhhh it wasn't us honest to god, we was sober but you was plastered last night. lets have a looksee what ya did while drunk. ..........oh my this will cost you $$$$ to fix.

Anohter idea: Make a nice black and white flyer advertising your services and then photo copy a bunch of copies. I mean a bunch, depending on the size of your campus then gather a bunch of friends and walk up and down the parking lot and stick them under the windshield wipers. chances are many college students will hang onto that for future references since its a college and service is right on campus.

you mentioned you talk to a lawyer. Did you discuss with him about the legal implications of running a business either DBA or otherwise on a college campus? May want to check into that if you haven't already so you don't get in trouble later on for doing business on campus properties.
