i existed on venison for a whole winter back when getting mind altered was more important than food(you know, your twentys..)
i cant even stand the smell of it cooking now,and here in da UP of MICH white tails run rampant, some farmers getting permits to let people come on their land and eliminate a few to save the crops.(usually corn farmers)
whitetail rifle season begins nov 15. most school districts in da UP close school for that day,so the kids can go out.
i ve got the little darlings eating apples in the yard every nite now.
i bagged one deer when i was 15. (a mere 35 yrs ago) had to shoot it twice. that was enough hunting for me.
now,i ,like socal, just shoot em with a camera when possible.
but i gotta agree with surreal. if the herd didnt get thinned, especially when we get a real rough winter(250 inches of snow and up) , the whitetails have a rough go of it. some areas even pool resourses during especially bad winters and haul in bales of hay for them.
as for what its like during hunting season at"deer camp" do a search for a song titled" da second week of deer camp" by Da Yoopers. the song is strangly accurate
