Hope this doesn't turn into a politacal diatribe, but let me start with BEST WISHES TO ALL

!
But the irony of Labor Day is that--partly because of the success of the American Economy--there are few protests, and in NYC--a center of the Labor Movement--the
Labor Day Parade is held a
week after LABOR DAY--because most people want tp party or shop or rest on Labor Day !
Just a reminder and a thank you to all the various laborers who built our Railroads--but like the Chinese-American laborers- were excluded from the famous photograpgh of the FINAL NAIL, link the western and easter lengths of the UNION Pacific.
The African-American laborers -who were enslaved to build and --were then discriminated against for another Century.
The European--Americans , who chose to "vote with their feet"--I am sure many of you if you can ask, will discover or may already know--just how hard it was to make the journey and to bring over families. Many returned to their homelands--but many stayed.
The Mexicans and Mexican-Americans who toil the "stoop labor" and and often are often the targets of politicians from States whose economies nevertheless rely on their labor.
The sacrifice to come to America is a huge one, as many left behind very Rich Cultures--if not financially rich lives. My own Mother , then a Subject of a Royal Crown Colony, had to traval to a British Consulate in then British Egypt leaving white-washed sun-sweptbuildings then to England to arrive at a grey industrial NYC during the Great Depression.
I once asked my parants--who voted for different Parties--why they bothered to vote in every Election as their votes effectively cancelled each other out. Their response was clear enough: Because in America you can vote.
But voting was not the only reason that bought millions here: in America there was a system in place that offerred opportunity. It was called Capitalism.
Little by little it was eroded and transformed into the Corporatism that we see today. As if the looting of their own Companies was not enough, we now learn that Solly SmithBarney gave millions to these Self-appointed 'Leaders' in IPO's it was underwriting.
Ah ! Self-appointed ...what other examplar than our 'Labor Leaders'. I can't realy speak for elsewhere, but here in NYC, a 'Labor Laeder' is someone who loots the Laborers --in a One-party State....dubiously referred to as a "Union"
But there is a solution,
Straightforward and clear.
It worked before.
It is realistic in its appraisal of "human nature".
It recognizes a simple truism: When Property rights are violated, others soon follow.
It protects the right of both the Shareholders and the Workers.
It is a fountainhead of innovation.
Hopefully we can get the Goons in our Corperate Suites and --one Labor leader in NYC had a $6,000,000 Penthouse with furniture that rises up and down as an office--our 'Union' Suites packing.
It is called CAPITALISM.
And one last sentence:
HAPPY LABOR DAY !
