Last night may have been Ernie Harwell's final broadcast. Though I've never lived in the mid-west, I've listened to Harwell many times. His low-key style is a throw back to the old days of listening to games on my little transister radio, before flashy, over-paid glamour broadcasters who had to fill every millisecond of air time with meaningless banter.

Thanks, Ernie. Enjoy many years of retirement, you've earned them.

I've been a "Michigander" all of my life, and I have listened to Ernie Harwell for as long as I can remember. They will never be able to find a replacement for him who can match his style and class!

Wow I haven't thought of him for years...
Reminds me of laying in the living room floor as a kid, listening to a Tiger's game.. with Al Kaline on base and Rocky Colavito at bat..

Yep, sorry to see him go on such a terrible year. I hate baseball right now. Greed kills. Ive listened to him my whole life also and it is surely a sad day for not only the Tiger orginization but for the whole MLB. Good day Ernie.
