Non-native Big Cat on rampage near my home town!
today and the last few days there has been a mountain lion (or panther, couger, etc.) spotted about 30 miles from my house. mountain lions are native to this area, but they have been extinct (in this area) for a long time. i live in stokes ccounty, NC. the lion is said to have mauled a few dogs already and is coming close to human dwellings. the authorities are trying to capture it. my guess is that it migrated down from virginia where they are occasionally spotted or maybe was an escaped zoo animal or pet. what next, a buffalo in my swimming pool?
