Need advice

Ok, here's how it goes. My cousin dated this guy for 8 months. She introduced him to me and he gave me a couple of his PCs to fix. He told me that he would pay me after the last PC was fixed. He took all the other PCs home because they were done. I was still working on the last PC. A few weeks ago my cousin and him broke up. I finished fixing the last PC and I called him to pick it up so I could get my payment. Well, he hasn't returned that call, or any other calls that I placed. This PC is a 200MHz pentium. The price for all the reparis was to be $110. What do I do now. Do I just keep the PC and sell the parts and make this a sort of payment? Any ideas?

I'd send him a written reminder first. Then wait a couple of weeks after you have sent the bill. If still unpaid, send him another letter telling him what you intend to do to recover the unpaid amount.

But its prolly easier to speak with him first.

In future, I'd make it clear to customers that they pay as they take out stuff from your shop for accounting purpose.'

My guess- he will not pay.

I'm not a lawyer, but... there is such a thing as a mechanic's lien. Basically, it allows you to seize, hold, and sell property for which payment for work done hasn't been made. Check it out.

Ya, I had that pulled on me once for some tools I charged to my account when I worked as a mechanic at a hardware store. I had to pay cash for the tools before they let me take them. Pretty much ended my career as a mechanic, since they had all my tools...

I'm guessing he probably won't pay either. Sucks when people pull that stuff on ya.

(I have since recovered my tools )
