YIKES!!! Plumbing costs...

I had a backed up shower drain here at my house, so I thought I would have someone come down and unclog it. $105.75 for what took him about 10 minutes. One guy. 10 minutes. And I thought I was making good money at $115.00 an HOUR for 3 GUYS.

I should be a pluber.

BTW... It was Roter Rooter.

Dave.

Yeah, I had a real good one, but I lent it to my inlaws... Never saw it again. I have a cheesy one right now, and I tried and tried even used a pressure thing for the pipes and couldnt get it unclogged myself. I should have gone to rent a motorized snake. Thats what the guys used. Next time I know.

Dude, that was cold blooded of the guy. I plumbed for most of the last 15 yrs. and rarely had a shower drain take more than 1/2 hr. to clear and never charged more than $65.00- $85.00. You have to be really careful because there are lot of so-called flat rate shops or job costing shops out there and they have a set schedule that they operate from and their guys operate on a commision basis. Their pricing is pre-scripted regardless of the time to finish the job. Sometimes this is good sometimes not.
Call and complain or better yet if you have a wife or girl friend let Her call and complain. My wife can squeeze the devil out of a manager or supervisor when she gets unhappy, also call and complain to the Better Buisiness Bureau. Because these companies have to respond to them when there are complaints. I have watched this movie over and over for years.
Sorry partner.

dday no offence, but I hate plummers. That's outrageous. I rented a roto router it was like 75 bucks a day, 40 a half, noit nearly as bad as a plummer. I had something like that happen too.

I had a busted pipe in this house when we got it, under about 6 inches of concrete. Anyway dug it up,cut it off, tried to thread and cap it to get it to hold, and it just kept bursting behind the cap. Old and worn out.this is the main supply from the meter. So I called the plummers to come look at it.The 2 guys walk up, look in the hole in the ground, see that I have already found the problem, and say we don't have access to the tools required for the job.
I say OK thanx
2 weeks later I get a bill for 85 bucks for them to say we don't have the tools. What jerks. I told them I wasn't paying it, they insisted, my wife did pay it like 5 bucks a month, drug it out for a loooooong time. That's just wrong.
I called a backhoe, dug a new trench for 40, new line 65, and 20 to fill it in again, and I'm a happy camper

What day of the week, what time of the day? I've had guys come out to ream out my drains on Labor Day evening; naturally they tend to charge more than for a scheduled daytime service. (They also tend to look like something out of an S. Clay Wilson Biker Pirate nightmare.)

Its my fault really, I was just to lazy to go rent a snake. Im not that dense when it comes to things like this. I could have done it with the proper tools. I have a U.S. Rents about 3 blocks away from me. I just thought that a plumber would cost less. (40-65 bucks) But by the time the Rotor Rooter guy came, my wife was nagging and I wasnt going to send him away. So I learned my lesson. Next time I feel like spending some money.... I'll buy me a TECHIMO 3pack of T-Shirts! At least I'll look good!
