Quite some time ago (8 - 10 years) I was pulled over for exceeding the speed limit one evening. The officer had me exit the car and do a sobriety test (which I did rather well in). Then after that he busted out what he called a "pupil-meter". It was just a small clear plastic template with a series of various size black dots. He held it up next to my eye to judge the size of my pupils.
I guess he first thought I was drunk, then when I didn't seem drunk he assumed I must be on drugs.
The ****-off hauled me in anyways. Made me give a sample for testing and sit around in their "drunk tank" for 3 hours. Charged me with driving under the influence of alcohol
and a controlled substance!!! I got a lawyer and said help me.
Few weeks later my lawyer requested and received the report from lab about substances I tested positive for. They tested for cocaine, marijuana, methamphetimine, barbituates, and alcohol.
I came up clean for everything exept alcohol which returned a 0.05% and that was well within the legal limit at the time (which was 0.10%). They dropped all charges and that's it. I got screwed and absolutely nothing I could do about it. Couldn't even get a refund from the lawyer.
And all because my pupils seemed unaturally large to one police officer on one night. ... So, you've been warned.
