Misc And you think your having a bad day? (Caution - Large Picture)

The following was emailed to me this morning. Isnt this wicked...

AND YOU THINK YOUR HAVING A BAD DAY AT WORK !!

Although this looks like a picture taken from a Hollywood movie, it is in fact a real photo, taken near the South African coast during a military exercise by the British Navy.

It has been nominated by Geo as "THE photo of the year".

Wow, I'd seen this photo a few times before, and some places had written it off as a fake.

If it is real, it does deserve to be "photo of the year". And that diver deserves "lucky SOB of the year" honors.

Well, according to this it is fake: http://www.snopes.com/photos/shark.htm

The pic of the chopper from a USAF site proves it. That's a USAF search and rescue crew. http://www.af.mil/photos/images/heli..._hh60_0001.jpg

Nicely done, though.

The picture was emailed to me this morning in a MS Word Document. The "iffy website" is my own. Thanks. I can not validate this to be real or not...

Hehe...it's definitely a fake, although a "wowish" one! Notice how a fish with the average weight of around 1 1/2 tons can leap out of the water (yes, great whites around the world can leap completely out of the water--that's a fact) without disturbing the water's surface much...I just watched a special on Discovery called "Air Jaws II" and there most definitely was a heck of a lot of water displacement as these massive predators were jumping for food.

Also, the camera man would have been expecting a shark to do that to get such a perfect shot. Those sharks aren't in the air for long and with that helicopter flying so low to the water, the shark wouldn't even be able to see that guy on the ladder...sharks have very poor eyesight to begin with.

All doubts are confirmed...

Yes, it is nicely done.
