Anyone here into building model airplanes?

I put together my first model airplane at the age of 15 I think and immediately became hooked. I haven't made any in quite a while, and today I'm going to go and get some hardware to start building again. I prefer WWII planes.

Any others here enjoy this hobby?.

CM.

Yep, I have a 1/32 scale F-4 Phantom I am working on now.
I built a stealth fighter (F-117)and an F-15 about 2 years ago, but they got messed up when I moved into my house.
When I was a youngster, I had a whole fleet of diesel truck tractors, as well as planes. The only downside is that they can start taking up a LOT of space..
Model kits are getting expensive, too.
Revell makes some pretty decent ones, but if you can afford them,Tamiya makes a very high quality kit. They are expensive, the F-15 1/32 scale kit goes for about 180 dollars U.S.
I always wondered why they were so much, then I bought a Ducati 916 model from Tamiya, and they are way ahead of Testors/revell in quality IMO.
If you can, get a small scale kit from Tamiya, and one from the others and compare. Now I know why they cost a lot more, but the difference is worth it if you want a show quality model.

I was a hue fan as a kid and just recently got back into it. I built a C5-A over Christmas break and started on a WWII Aircraft carrier as well. I want to build a large B-52.

Yep, I still do it sometimes, but usually the glue goes everywhere and the models gets messed up. The last one I did was an A-10. It came out pretty good, but when we moved, it got broken. I recently bought a F-105 Thud but have yet had the time to put it together.

Well I decided to try something different today and bought a Boeing 747-400 with Lufthansa decals.

I just finished about 4 hours of work, I'm half way through.

I hope to finish in about 2 days.

It's great that they have superglue now and some of the non-toxic plastic cements. Makes me want to dig up the old airbrush to do some weathering on plastic models.

No one really seems to do much modeling these days but I was into model rockets, model trains, and model cars. Anyone into making those mini-dioramas with the models? Use to use cotton to simulate the smoke trail off of things.
