9/11 this, 9/11 that...you know, if a company goes bankrupt, it's not necessarily 9/11's fault. I'd say about 80% of the time, 9/11 is just an excuse a company uses when they go out of business these days. If a company was already doing good business practices before 9/11, then they would more than likely be doing better now than before.
USAir is based out of Charlotte, NC, and I used to live in Charlotte. They've had problems ever since they were founded. 9/11 only tripped them up as much as it tripped every other airline up. It's the bad decisions they've made before and after 9/11 that is their demise right now.

Crap, that's the only airline that flys into the Athens GA. airport.
Mike EDIT: The airport is pretty small. US Air (Express) uses these little twin engine turboprops. They don't even have an intercom. When they've lined up for their final approach, the pilot sticks his head into the cabin and yells: WERE GONNA LAND NOW ! !

I'm going to be real pissed if this is one of the Air companys that got the federal bailout money.
Especially if they are using any sort of "golden parachute"...

Too late, CE!
Useless Scareways has already gotten ~$200meg from the gub mint. At the same time, it awarded its exec committee multi-megabuck bonuses BECAUSE THE MERGER WITH UNITED FAILED!!!
Useless Scare has been bleeding badly for years. Over the past three years, they posted in the black in only one quarter (Q2 2000).
They have been singing the "we're turning around" ever since before the Piedmont buyout years ago.
