IMO Michiganders... ATT broadband?

Experiences with them? $45 for service in Lansing... Getting ready to cross the great divide here. Going from my turtlesque dialup to screaming broadband soon. Just wondering what others here in MI or elsewhere for that matter thought about ATT.

I am pursuing other avenues of info as well... but almost any move I make involves picking techimo's collective mind.

Thanks

back when I was still in MI I was one of the first people to get ATT broadband. At first it was crazy fast. Then not so much fast as overloaded because they had sold more bandwidth than they had available. It was down alot and when it was up it wasnt much faster than dialup. They seem to have fixed all those problems up nicely now though. Im very happy with them here in PA, and my mom and grandparents both use them in MI and seem to be satisfied as well. Thats in Muskegon though which is about 4 hours from where you are.

ATT sells DSl packages that vary from 768 up to at least 1500.

Att cable I think starts at 1500 and is working (finished?) on the option for faster connections.

As for the service I was very impressed. They had only one down time and the speed was constant and as advertised. However I live in Pontiac where GM has half a dozen factories and facilities so the phone lines here have lots of capacity.

On the down side you are deaqling with a large corperation and it can be very hard to get any personal service other than from the installer...

All in all if this area had been DSL ready when we moved I would never have switched. (Our current street is a one block dead end, and one of the last pockets to get upgraded, about two monthes after we moved in...)
