Einstein's theory may be relatively wrong

The team's findings, which are published in the latest edition of respected science journal Nature, are causing a major stir in the lofty circles of theoretical physics.

Why don't they just get a flashlight and a stopwatch and check if it's still 186,300 MPS

Either way, I'm not so sure this would actually upset the theory of relativity

On the contrary Fingres, Einstein stated that nothing could go faster than the speed of light, the recent research and findings shows that travel at faster than the speed of light might well be possible.

To us mortals this might not mean much, but in the world of science it's quite a story

Ahhhhh

I always said that the whole speed of light thing was full of hot air.

It is a calculation mistake.

You can exceed it if you have the fuel.

Hmm, that could well explain why they keep finding stars that seem to be older than the universe. If light from the edge of the universe has been slowing down (speed of light being close to infinite at the moment of the big bang would've put quite a bit of mass quite a distance away from the point) then over the billions of years and billions of light years travelled, it's very well possible that the light left a long time before we thought it did.

Or maybe those new physicists just missed some key element, like dopplar or something...

Can I borrow that car when you're done with it?

Many other explanations are possible.

Perhaps the curvature (or perceived curvature) of the universe changes radically as you go "out".

Perhaps the speed of light is only constant relative to the local density of the universe.

Perhaps the other properties of light change with time, which affected the perceived speed differential.

Perhaps the light traveled a longer path than assumed, being deflected by something that we cant "see."

Perhaps one of the scientists had a spot of mayonaise on his glasses

Or perhaps you can travel faster than light Light can travel slower than light.

the idea of the mayonaise may be right. Hmmmmm.
