Time Machines

If time machines were possible, wouldn't someone have come to visit us from the future to pass on the knowledge?.

Maybe as they were traveling back, their bodies slowly deterioted to the point where they just vanished

There would surely be protocols that they would not be allowed to alter the past?

That would not be wise. Perhaps we only learn about time travel after we are mature enough to do so.

Any interaction with the past could be dangerous. Kill the mosquito that makes the doctor who cures cancer's great grandfater go to the pharmacy where he meets his great grandmother and poof cancer does not get cured for another hundred years. during that hundred years a dictator of a small country gets cancer and decided to nuke another country since he is going to die any way. Killing 1 mosquito made millions of changes in the time stream. Now hitler is the ruler of the world.

Or

Could just as easily go the other way too...

Of course the concept of a time machine is only valid if time is considered as linear. If time is discreete, there's no "connection" to trace "back."

Time looks linear to us, but then the Earth looks flat, too.

If it were me I would go back in time, and sell the technology and make myself rich, although when I did return to the future the notes would be obsolete, so I would still be broke. Just the way my life runs

According to Einstein, if you were to overcome all the obstales and go back in time, you would alter that dimension and create a new, alternate dimension. So if you were to go into the future, you would be going into a diffrent future than what you know. *confusing, eh?*

You can't go back in time beyond the point when the first time machine is invented.

So if, or when one is ever created, we will then instantly be flooded with visitors from the future coming back to witness the very first moment of time travel. Also at that point, time will no longer be a continuum. All time will exists simultaneously…or in parallel, if you will.

I say that happens 2012. Some time in December. Laugh now…but don't forget who told ya when the time comes. uT

I remember seeing some documentary a couple of years ago - I just cant' quite place where. Time machines do exist in the form of Deloreans powered by Flux Capacitors. If you go back in time and help your dad punch the bully, then when you return to the present you get a new truck to take your girlfriend to the lake.
