Had A Great Day

Today, well yesterday now!
With all that's happened lately, I felt everyone, including the kids needed some down time. I may have told you that I'm divorced, and married again with another boy, and 4 step-daughters, anyway we had planned a big camping trip before school starts, and this weekend was the time. Instead we went swimming, and done a little fishing, and even got to chase 4 snakes away. Nice little place the consevation patrols, about 20 miles away.
My brother-in-law caught some small perch, I did too, but I think my worm bit them and my 8 year old caught a cat fish about 9-10 inches long, boy was he proud. He outfished everyone. We were only gone about 6 hours, but felt like a month. No phones
We all got a little sunburned, and a lot tired, but it was great
I remember a thread a while back about someone discovering fishing again, me too, this year. Hadn't fished in years, and found that I really enjoyed getting away from town, and people, and drowning poor unsuspecting worms, to play a game with an opponet that's not aware he's playing.
I don't swim well, but I love my big tractor tire innertube.
Anyone else swim and fish? Lets hear about it.

My dad, sis, dog and I travel up a logging road a bit to a resevoir to go swimming. We used to live in the area and walked up the road, but now we have to drive since we live 'in town'. I'll bring my digicam sometime.....sunset is really nice around there. I know what you mean about getting away from it all.....I can walk around there for some time (with my gun) in the middle of nowwhere....northern VT is even "worse" (or better, depending on your POV) as far as being remote.

Aww Swim and Fish---- that's ME!!!!!!!
worms, poor worms, but I bet they did their best to help ya!! Tha's their job, hard to have too many feelings over an arthropod with 1/15th brain or something like that.....

I'm happy ya had fun!!!

I'm jelous that you posted this thread cuz I wanted to get my film developed and share my adventure of a 10 hr deep sea trip with y'all..... I asked for an adventure and I got it. I was terrified about going out, but I did it!!!!!! It was great! Caught 3 foot amberjack, many redfish and groupers....... Took my boy (14) and apoligized to him for waiting so long to do this. He forgives me. His Dad (in Heaven) was looking over him and the mate too helped him reel in a 20 pound grouper..... JOY.....

Well that makes my 3 ounce perch look insignificant
Well he felt a lot bigger on the line

Seriously,I have always wanted to go deep sea fishin' and hook a marlin or something like that. But not much chance living in the middle of the US I'm looking forward to the pics though.

I read about shark fishing.....that always seemed like it'd be exciting. If I did any form of fishing, it'd be something like that

I didn't think it would be as cheap as $28 per person, That's a good deal.
